During the 208th Legislature\, Turner became the first woman and first African-American to be elected as Senate President Pro Tempore.\n\n									Turner is Vice Chair of both the Senate Education Committee and the Senate State Government\, Wagering\, Tourism\, and Historic Preservation Committee.
